2011 (A New Beginnings...)

Hello Everyone,

2010 was history indeed! 2011 is in full blast and we started the year with a bang playing for Sonic Boom's "Sinulog Blast Off 2011". It was hell of a night and the most memorable as how we experienced the event. It's getting bigger and better every year with a lot of twists and surprises as what Sonic Boom does every year. It was also honorable since we didn't realize that we are about 10 long years already and we spent it the right way that night. I know it my sound off since we are not that active anymore but we always have something in store for everyone. New tracks and demo to start with and we cant wait for an EP|LP or a full-length, who knows!? Hopefully we can be back in the studio and record new tracks. We already have the tunes to boot and arranging them as how we see fit. We wanted to make an album that can top our previous effort. This time more raw and in your face approach and still having that "Detached sound" as how we call it. Please do check us out @ http://soundcloud.com/detachedmusic for track samples and demos...We really can't say more on how we are blessed through the years, that we still enjoy the little things we do and a life we call our own. So much for showbiz!

Practice! New Songs (Make It!)

Hello Everyone,

This is it! New songs are rehearsed as usual and we're very excited for a road test. It's been a while and the guys are currently busy writing new material. We're going to start the new year with a couple of new tunes that we will be offering soon. Out of town gigs are also frequent to promote our sponsors. Unfortunately our Masbate gig was cancelled due to conflicting schedules but it's okay we'll get a handful later on. As we speak, a raw track was recorded with the collaboration with our dear brother John Dinopol of Urbandub! Damn! We can't wait to play it live. The track is paying homage to one of our favorite bands Urbandub and Ablank. We hope you'll like the track and we'll how it goes moving forward. This is a fruitful year for us as we are living the band life that we wanted, keeping it steady and our own. We are gearing up for our summer gigs soon! We'll keep you posted guys so we hope to see you in the venues...Til' next time! :D

Sonic Boom 2010

Hello Everyone,

This is our first gig to start the new year! What can you expect in January? Sinulog? Oh yes indeed! This is the yearly event everyone is buzzing about. We are honored to play as always and we can't even remember how many Sonic Boom gigs we graced. It doesn't matter but the fact is we are there to reach out and share our music to everyone. Even though the weather is not that good but it's no big deal! Everyone is still coming and filling in. We started off the main event before the heavyweights plays in. Tested our new song and we pulled it off again! It really paid off! Props to my guys! We've been currently busy writing new materials and please do check it out in our upcoming gigs.

Year In Review

Hello Everyone,

I'm back! Healthy and better than ever...It's 2010 and it's been a while since I haven't updated our blog. It was last October! FTW! Anyway nothing much has happened last year but we got a couple of hits and misses and to start things, we missed the Visayan Music Festival 2009 due to work issues and remember that we are working guys and we need money to suffice our needs, gigs are always there and waiting. Isn't it cool? Well Dec 2009 got us to BOHOL (that's right!) for the Musika De Visayas. That was also one of the good gig this year. We're so happy and honored that when we are out there, people tends to connect with the vibe and that's what keeps you going. Thanks to all the Boholanos! :D

I didn't even updated the blog site for the Xmas and New Years day! What a bummer! Anyway here it is: BELATED MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY YEAR!!! It's never to late I tell ya! :D

Cagayan (City Of Friendship) -- Verse One

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was "Verses One" -- a launching gig for the Cagayan music scene to be recognized in the Philippines. An event where Cagayan bands displayed what they're made of (playing original Cagayanon music). We tell you those guys are GOOD! We see a bright future for their scene and hopefully we're looking forward to play there again. Everyone was very supportive and singing to our songs when it was our time to play, to think we are the last band to play and everyone didn't go home yet, it was really flattering! We now understand since we are the 3rd generation band/s the impact of the older Cebu generations that played there and give inspiration to their current scene. We see how people appreciate good Cebuano music, be it other genre etc. All are equal that night! We salute the people there...

The Lower Class didn't even fail to give them a good show, the night was a blast indeed for all of us and the Cagayanons -- if I'm correct!? Hehehe...

Hello Everyone,

Last Saturday (10/17/09) was "Doomsday" by Not Yours Production with Nick Automatic. We played along with Manila's underground bands and Singapore's "A Vacant Affair". It was a good night and everyone was there despite the delay of the scheduled launch. The good thing is Luther played for us with the song "Product Of My Choice" and he still nailed it as usual! He's still sharp as ever but Bim2x also got his groove back despite the busy schedule. He's a monster in the making...

Cagayan.Manila.Cebu Tour Mayhem

Hello Everyone,

I'm back and better than ever! We hope everyone's fine. Great works are in for the band and to kick things off, we're going to Cagayan de Oro for our album tour. It was a hard one to pull off. Mainly we need more and more months to prepare for the upcoming gigs. The band is very excited because this will be the first time we're going out and play with a new crowd and people. Meet new faces and greet everyone who requested and supported us along the way and with a new line-up, things are getting better and better by the day. Our dear brother already left us for good to take car of personal careers but we found a new brother and drummer in Bonemar "Bim2x" Espeso. He's good and we can't ask for more about him! Last month was also a blast with the conclusion of Sugbusika 2009 with Queso...enough said!!!

On November we'll be heading to Manila to promote our album and we're hoping everyone to fully support us in our independent endeavors. We keep our feet to the ground and working things one at a time. We're never a hasty band after all, we weigh our options best to make everyone happy and I'm satisfied with it.

UC Main = Awesomess!

Hello Everyone,

Last Saturday was a fine night. It was a UC Main's acquaintance party! The campus tour hosted by Killerbee 92.3 was an unforgettable one. The people are just so receptive and we're very welcomed by the gentle folks there. We're the first band to grace the night, as always we started the stage ablaze. We never choose slots, we just wanted to start everything right. The folks are jamming to our tunes despite the technical difficulties encountered by our bassist but it didn't stop us from performing that night. Even though guitars, drums and vocals were active, we just show the people what we are made of. As you can see, shit happens all the time but it was indeed a show in a sense!

We thank UC Main for the invitation and Killerbee 92.3 for the gig...til' the next time!

Hello Everyone,

Last Saturday was a blast. It was a small gig but it was awesome! Finally the itch paved way for the band to give everyone a show. It was good coz' we need to dust the rust off. A lot of bands played that night and mind you, those watching that show were kids! You can only count the people who are or let's say "old"...*joke! It's nice to see new generation come and see small gigs coz' it only shows that despite the local music incapability, there's still an audience willing to pay to watch good music. Let's just set aside differences because we're just under one island. There's no WHO'S WHO in this scene...all are striving to rejuvenate and spread the word.

Anyway it was a good performance and a good show. The band was really having fun, Mike did stumble not out of intent but shit happens and he didn't STOP instead he continued with his usual barrage of antics and so do the other guys. A big hand for the band though! Nice gig!

Unexpected and Uninvited

Hello Everyone,

Last Sunday was a killer. We played the night with the Paknaan people whom we thank for their continued support for us. Even though a few played that night and we came from a Saturday gig, it was really unexpected but we can't refuse these people. They loved us and we give love back! By request it was done and so far it was a night for the residents. We played 5 songs for the crowd, Mike was drunk and so am I and the rest of the gang. People were enjoying and jamming with the music. They danced and Mike danced, head banged our heads and people reciprocate. It was so cool!

Best of all the highlight of the night was the dishes Tita Cora prepared for us. Damn! That spicy pork stew...that was the bomb! It was so good! REALL GOOOOD! :)

Graduated Finally! Successful Album Launch Concluded

Hello Everyone,

Last Saturday night was the conclusion for the Detached by Numbers Album Launch... We'd like to thank everyone who attended, the bands, our families and for everything that contributed to a very very successful night! Props to the people behind our backs who always drive us to push through and fulfill our desires, to be able to showcase our hard work and dedication.

It was a blast in all sense, our band batch mates graced our show! First off Lightyear started the night with a bang, mind you they're very GOOD! Next stop Twinkle Dudu, these guys never tends to cease. Same old craft and and same old tight set! Picturefilled graced the next set, with minor set backs these guys are pro! Tight set and I hope there here to stay! Pointblank served the crowd with unending barrage of in-your-face music mayhem. Props to these guys who helped us in our humble beginnings. Crowd's stoked "PB" style! Finally the main event, stars are out for Detached! Unending "you're served" raw power that left the crowd to grasp for air after each song. It was intense, all out expression of 8-9 years of hard work! The crowd was very receptive and they all enjoyed the set! Damn! Props to Adam of Pointblank and Jesse of First Born who shared and danced with us that night! Smooth Friction as the name says blistered the audience with intimate yet bold aura of classic-esque music that left the audience jaw-dropped...Yeah baby! Finally Melophobic crushed and ended the night pulverizing anything in there path and ending the night that set audience tucked in their seats! Thanks to all the bands who played and graced our nght...

To all the people who left us with memorable memories in our special night, we'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget it! The bands (our batch mates!) F***ing AMEN! To the Sound Balloon crew, you're the best! Handuraw Events cafe for providing us the venue! It was a night to remember... Thank you for thanking us! Everyone! To those who are not mentioned...you know who you are! You're very much appreciated!

To our families and loved ones who also witnessed the show, we thank you all! It was an emotional night for us and fair and square, it was a SUCCESS! A big hand!

The Unforgiving Gap

Hello Everyone,

It's so good to be back. We're very busy this past few days and I have less time to write down my blog. Damn! Well I will summarize the weeks we had and mind you it was a blast! The band itself is so excited about the debut album, of course with mixed reviews whether good or bad it'll make us as what we are in the long run. After all it's not really about who's in and who's out but it's about how a band is molded into what they are as brothers, as friends and how they refine their craft. We also realized that what comes after the album, be it whatever...it's the only title we have to drive us and to win hearts. I hate to say but we can't push our type of music for people to like, we let them decide for themselves instead. We are just the characters, the people are your critics!

Last May15th 2009 was also a blast because it was Greyhoundz "Execution Style" album launch but I didn't enjoy the night because I need to go to work. Anyway it was a very fulfilling night. Lots of good bands played that night and I was drunk with Mike that time. Props to Greyhoundz for launching their album here in Cebu. We also played in Handuraw last first week in May and it was also a good one. I forgot about the Mabolo gig but unfortunately I accidentally deleted the message. It's okay since it's also my fault. I apologize for that good soul.

Guys! by Numbers album launch on May30 2009 @ Nuvo... We are all pumped up and ready to showcase what we've been working this past 8/9 years! We'd love to share with you this special night and we promise it'll be a helluva night to see. Lot of bands to grace our show and we want you to be there! SUPPORT!SUPPORT!SUPPORT!

Recording Session 27 [Finale]

Hello Everyone,

Today was the final adjustments of all the songs we recorded for the past few months. We never expected that it's all finished. It's so hard to say goodbyes because we've been in the studio for quite a while and that's something that we'll miss the most! I just went to the studio to pay some bills and then Mike came and we just wrap it up like it was nothing but something in us is staying. It felt really weird! As you can see we enjoyed the whole ride this past three months and we can't just deny that we feel sad that we need to part ways with our sound engineer, the man behind the boards (Hanz). We just treated ourselves with sumptuous desserts and snacks just to celebrate a job well done...

Honestly we will miss the time going to the studio. This time around is the new chapter to showcase what we created, the excitement didn't sink in yet but we're happy that all is good...

This is the finale for the recording diaries and we'll move on with a new beginning starting NOW!!!

Note: No pics will be showed. It's better if we'll keep the memories as it is.

Last Saturday was the killing vocal process for the songs "Unfit". Jessie (FirsBorn) and Adam (PointBlank) were there to grace the time. It didn't took long for the vocal tracks to be processed. The two just got the feel and vibe of the song and then "BAM!", we got there a killer track. I tried to fill in for the guitars but I was in my worst condition...Sorry guys!

Hello Everyone,

Last Wednesday was the final touches for all the drum tracks. We didn't do anything coz' we need to make sure that all are in place before we can proceed to the next process. We have a little bit of a problem with "Unfit" but is was fixed. Thanks GOD! It was a very lengthy process and draining at the same time but it was worth the hassle. I can't believe that we're almost done and it's really getting awkward because it was a fun-filled activities everyday in the studio. So much for the drama! We need to finish in time...Next are the tracks for the remaining songs and we're done. Things are a bit in schedule but we still have to kick our asses off...

Last Tuesday was the guitar and vocal tracks for "Medicate" but unfortunately we did to retake some parts of the song with Luther's drum tracks. Well I need to retake again the guitars coz' lately Wes is acting weird (out of tune specials). Vocal tracks for "Mikhail" was done and it was good.

Remaining songs for guitar, bass, vocals are "Admire Adore", "Send Me Away", "Mikhail", "Medicate" and "Unfit". Maybe all of you are wondering if we can make it? Oh! Yes we can! It's much faster if the drum tracks are in place so everything will follow. This is our last week and it's very crucial on our end. We need to finish in time...

Recording Session 16

Hello Everyone,

Last Monday was the drum tracks for "Admire Adore" and "Mikhail" and we're very happy with the results because the songs we're recorded quickly. We reviewed the tracks and it was all good in business. We're very much wondering where Luther placed all his passion in creating an album which he can call his own. He was keen enough to share and add ideas on the drums tracks and that what's making it healthy coz' way before Mike and me coordinated all the drum patterns. Lately within the recording process, he was getting better (not better but absolutely GOOD!) We know that he'll be leaving soon and he wanted to create an album which is fitted for a debut album (no regrets).

Those are the last songs for this week (drum tracks). Next will the vocals, bass and guitar tracks...I think this is the last week of our session and moving forward it'll be the mixing and remastering process. We just hope all is GOOD! We can't wait..FINALLY!

Hello Everyone,

Last Friday was vocal tracks for "Medicate" and "Secrecy". "Secrecy" guitar tracks was done. Drum session was canceled because Luther needs to take care of paper works but it's okay. We did a great job in filling in despite cancellation.

On to Saturday, we hope it's available! We're crossing our fingers!

Recording Session 12

Hello Everyone,

Last Tuesday was guitar tracks for "Choices Voices". "Send Me Away" was done and "Admire Adore" was half-tracked again. On Friday, all drum tracks will be done so it'll be the guitar, vocal and bass tracks moving forward. Drums are very very very important in the process this week. Tracks for the remaining instruments are easier already. By first week of April, all are set and done. Finally this is it!

Recording Session 11

Hello Everyone,

Last Friday and Saturday was overkill. We started tracking from morning til' evening! Damn! Drum tracks for "Medicate", "Unfit", and "Secrecy" are done. Vocals were done for "Choices Voices". We're even thinking to retake "Send Me Away", "Admire Adore" and "Mikhail" but we'll talk about it first before we decide...Retake then! Hehehe...

The song "Evolution" was 90% mixed and mastered. Some things will be adjusted to finalize the it. We'll be distributing the songs to local radio stations here in Cebu for playtime. We hope you'll like it.

Last Monday was the guitar tracks for "Choices Voices". "Send Me Away" was half tracked due to time. We can just make our engineer be a work horse. We have a soft heart for it.

Hello Everyone,

Tracks for "Unfit" was done and I finished the vocals for "Choices Voices". Guitar tracks was not planned because Pardi and Luther came in late but it's okay. It was worth it, as long as we can have 1 track per day and that's a big difference. Band funds is already due but reinforcements will surely arrive. We can still budget our way through the process.

Tomorrow will be tracks for "Secrecy". XD

Recording Session 8

Hello Everyone,

Last Sunday was a killer. Vocals for "Evolution" was changed for mixing and drum tracks for "Numbers" was in placed because we lost the data file for the older version which was recorded but it was good. "Evolution" will be finalized and mixed this week or two and we're going to submit the songs over to local air stations for playtime. XD

Last Monday was the guitar tracks for "Numbers". We do encounter problems along the way because some of the tracks were not synchronized with how I play the guitar tracks but thanks to Hanz again it was fixed. What a day that is! I almost gave up on the song. I thought we can never salvage what we recorded. 4 more songs to go and we're done! Tomorrow until Friday so that's Wednesday to Friday, we'll head to the studio to record "Choices Voices", the next day will be "Secrecy", next will be "Medicate" and "Unfit". We hope we can fit in all the songs this week so we'll head on with the guitar, bass and vocal tracks.

Tomorrow is the start of a lengthy process! Here are the pics everyone!

Recording Session 7

Hello Everyone,

Today's plan was changed. Instead of tracking the remaining songs, our brother drummer called up and can't make it today (needs to take care of paperwork before graduating). We did not stop from there. We just continued with the normal process, tracking the songs which don't need a retake namely "Mikhail". Vocal tracks were recorded for "Evolution" and "Mikhail" and tomorrow's session will be the bass for both songs. "Admire Adore" was also planned (we thought from there that we need to track it again but it was fixed! PS: Hanz is the man!). Tomorrow will be "Send Me Away", more on guitars tracks. "Numbers" needs some polishing too. Vocals for aforementioned songs will also be included. Remaining songs are: "Medicate", "Secrecy", "Choices Voices" and "Unfit". Four songs more and album is done! XD

Tomorrow we'll be heading again to the studio for the remaining tracks...Sunday will be a busy day for us too! Drum tracks are still the priority...

Recroding Session 6

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday was very fulfilling because "Evolution" was done and tracked by our drummer replacement "Bim2x". After that our very dear brother will set off to a new life which is going abroad or pursuing his career between the year. He will always be part of the band and can come back anytime after his contracts are done. This Wednesday-Fri will be heading to the studio to track more of the song namely: "Admire Adore" and "Mikhail", the rest are retakes so we can concentrate more on the drum tracks and make it good.

Unfortunately I forgot to bring with me my camera because I was the one carrying the things to the studio, what a feat that is! Trust me 5 instruments at your grasp and there's no one to help you! Damn! I love it also because we dont want to be dependent, as you can see we are an independent band in a sense. We are aware of our social and personal responsibilities! Right dad? Hehehe...XD

Hello Everyone,

So so busy this week. Hmm... We'll same routine in the studio and that's it. Retake on the song "Evolution" coz' first track was a bit off but coming Sunday will be killing time. XD
This is what I expected, I reminisce the old times already-"Déjà vu". All of us are inspired and everyone is cooperating, I missed this! Studio session today is cancelled so Sunday will be the perfect day to head on and work on things.

We're finally done with the tracks for "Product Of My Choice". Saturday will be the tracks for Mike's part. Yesterday was very fruitful and we did completed the song and Friday til' Saturday will be an on-going sessions. The band will be on the studio til' March and April for the album to be completed. A little more and we'll be there.

Recording Session 2

Hello Everyone,

We're going to the studio as we speak (in real-time). Second day of the album in progress. We hope for an April-May release and it's a good time to release on those months because it's summer so people tends to seek new stuffs be it activities (musically, physically, etc.) This time with the right budget (common problem) and time, we make sure we'll be in time. We're happy on what we see and the progression of all the band activities recently. A gig on March 7 @ Kukuk's nest is a good ground so we can road test some of our new songs.

To let you all know that we do are serious in completing the debut album and we also learned from our mistakes but it's always fun to see old habits coming back. As you can see you cannot, for "aspiring bands" to have a "perfect" band. I love my band very much and we love each other. To tell you, drummer and bassist are my brothers. Of course your truly is the guitarist. The vocalist on the other hand is a brother also from another mother. We consider the band as a family...

Recording Session 1

Hello Everyone,

We're already in the studio from February 23 onwards. First day was fun and we kinda get in to some troubles in laying the drum tracks. It's really hard if your on meter (metronome) and take my word for it once all is in place, it really pays off. We'll be on the studio til' were done with all the tracks form February onwards. It's getting exciting on our camp and we tell you we're going to finish this time.

Track list will be released once all tracks are in place. Probably this March!

Hello Everyone,

We're learning to fit our songs with of course just being familiar using "metronome". We never thought that it was this hard but anyway our patience we're tested. Damn! What a pain in the arse! As long was we got the tempo, we'll get it in the process and it's for our own good too. It will make us better in the long run and I'm confident enough that we can familiarize the application. Believe it or not, we are using an online metronome application. That's for now!

Pit Señyor!! Wow! It was a blast last Saturday, January 17, 2009. Let me begin by saying everyone was so fantastic. The bands, the people, the crew who made Sonic Boom Blast Off a hit success. It's an honor for us to play with the likes of Kjwan, Angulo, Taken By Cars, Nyctinasty and West Grand Boulevard. Not to mention Cebu's Urbandub, Faspitch, The Ambassadors, Still, Powerspoonz, Pointblank, Pelican Street, The Line Divides and the DJ mixes by Techisoba. Everyone was very receptive and we are very happy to know that people enjoyed and appreciated the music. I was speechless the whole time that I enjoyed every bit of what happened that night. It's one of the memorable event we had and looking forward to another Sonic Boom event. Cheers Everyone! Salamat!

Happy New Year

Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year! This is to a new year and time for us to get busy. We are excited looking forward to Sinulog 2009 and we know it will be a blast for everyone. To start off the new year, we'll be playing @ Royal Concourse, a Sonic Boom event. It's been a while that we haven't played for them. Please do check on our Myspace page for any updates and gig schedules. Right after the celebration, we're heading off to the studio to record new tracks for the album. Unfortunately we change course and never looked back, through reflections and advice. The plan is to create a new album but of course choosing the previous tracks we already made. We know it's a little late but it' never too late. We do believe in ourselves as a band and we know our limits. We just wanted to enjoy and keep the pressure to ourselves to come up with something that we can finally wrap a belt around our waist...

The beginning starts now and we look forward to share with you our struggles and how we do throughout the years. We'll keep you posted for any updates here on our site.

Numbers Album Update 2

Things are really getting exciting. Besides November is almost but we're ready on to tackle the last 2 songs on our album. We're beginning to review everything from our last recording since 2001 and we see things which needs to be improved. We can never ask for more so as to make an album which is dear to our hearts. Asking from points of view from our dear friend and brother John Dinopol, we see things in a newer light. Time is just too much to ask on our part but we'll settle things soon. We can't wait to present our stuffs and we love to move and go out, show everyone that we are serious on things. For us, everything will fall into place and patience is still a virtue...

Numbers Album Update

November is here and it's really getting exciting in our camp as we are to lay-in the 2 final songs for our album "Numbers". We already have an album cover and we'll keep you posted for the final one in the works. Yours truly John Dinopol gave inputs on the said cover. Lastly we'll post videos on the the studio process so you'll also have an update in the progression of the album. We know it's been a very long time we're working on it and due to the fact that we're working and also facing financial problems. This hindrances never held us back since we love what we do.
